Inventev are looking for more back-end developers to join us, and help develop our internet of energy platform

More info

Inventev is a start-up technology company, delivering services for electric vehicles and the connected home. Our team is expanding, and we are looking for a software developer who’s passionate about programming to join our team. Inventev’s mission is to facilitate the transition towards a low carbon and sustainable economy, through technology and electric vehicles.

Our software hooks together electric vehicles and other devices with a cloud based IoT platform, to optimise their energy consumption. Our customers are empowered with tools that allow them to save money and increase their use of renewable power, whilst simultaneously helping grid operators more effectively manage electricity grids.

The energy industry is going through an exciting transition as it decarbonises and digitises. Joining inventev represents a fantastic opportunity to help lead change by delivering technology that makes the UK a genuinely better and greener place to live.

Inventev uses the latest technology tools, techniques and processes; our core is written in Python

As a start-up focussed on technology our core software is developed in house. Our code base is developed following TDD agile development approaches, using the latest software tools and like Git, CI and Datadog to monitor performance. Our backend is delivered through Python, using the Django framework, supported by Postgres, RabbitMQ and Celery. Our front end is delivered using responsive HTML, and NativeScript connected to the backend via Django Rest APIs.

Inventev a great place to solve challenging problems, and work alongside a highly motivated team

If you join inventev, you will be solving problems that no-one has (yet) solved. From a software development perspective, this could range from ensuring that our core platform communicates reliable with thousands of devices, to writing an optimisation algorithm based on artificial intelligence. It’s all exciting, if you like solving problems.

Our team is small, so you will be able to make an impact and contribute immediately. You will be supported by a driven set of individuals, who have significant experience across energy and technology. If you are a strong self-starter, our business is a great place to learn and develop.

An ideal candidate would share our passion and enthusiasm, be willing to learn, and be a self-starter

We are looking for someone who has ability to program, and is passionate about technology. Programming ability is essential, but we are happy to consider candidates with less formal experience, who can demonstrate that they have the ability to adapt, learn, and solve problems.

Experience in one of the following technologies would be ideal:

  • Python with Django and / or ORM experience, and unit-testing knowledge
  • SQL web databases like Postgres or MySQL
  • Web scripting languages like Javascript, TypeScript
  • API integration using RESTful web services
  • Message queue processing, using for example RabbitMQ and / or Celery
  • Data science techniques like machine learning and / or statistical methods to draw insights from data
  • Docker and CI/pipeline configuration

Our company is based in central London, but remote working is also an option. Candidates should be able to work in the UK as of February 2018.
